Leupold Scope On A Ruger?
Question: A while back I purchased a Ruger Varmint .17 HMR (specifically for fox shooting). So I got it in my head that I ought to get a scope for it. I ended up getting a Leupold Scope (4-12X50) but before I mounted it I was wondering if this type of a scope is a good fit for my Ruger?
Answer: It’s a great fit. The combo between rifle and the caliber should work great for you. The Ruger .17HMR is a great caliber and I’ve heard of clean shots taken at over 200 yards. If you start hunting smaller animals at 100 yards or less you might have better accuracy if you increase magnification a bit to see where you’re aiming
It is a great scope of that rifle and caliber combination. When shooting smaller targets at 75+ yards. I find I get better shot placement with the ability to increase the magnification to actually see where I’m aiming on the animal (since you’re intent is obviously to kill, not wound).
